Synopsis: Money and morality clash when the Heart Transplant Selection Committee of St. Patrick’s Hospital have only minutes to decide which of three patients will receive a heart that has suddenly become available. Presented in real time without an intermission and based on actual events, the play takes the audience through the rising stress and tension as medical professionals clash over life and death decisions.

Dr. Kierra Banks: late 20s; surgical fellow; neophyte, eager
Nella Larkin, R.N.: 30-40s; Cardiac Transplant Coordinator; efficient, organized
Dr. Alex Gorman: 50s; Chief of Cardiac Surgery; fastidiously dressed; arrogant, outspoken and opinionated
Dr. Jack Klee: 60 to early 70s; cardiologist; recently resumed his post as Head of Cardiac Transplant Unit after a bout with cancer; affable, approachable
Dr. Ann Ross: 40s; Head of Psychiatry; divorced, bright, intense, possibly manic/depressive; 15-year-old daughter died of an overdose
Father Charles Dunbar: mid to late 60s; Catholic priest; was a defense attorney for 34 years; widowed, likeable, easy-going, smoker
Domenick Piero: 30s; Head of Social Services; wheelchair-bound; friendly, engaging
