The Scripps Ranch Theatre (SRT) is presenting the highly praised comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, written by Christopher Durang, from Sept. 9 to Oct. 9. The play explores the relationships of three middle-aged single siblings, two of whom live together, and takes place during a visit by the third, who supports them. A weekend of rivalry, regret, and raucousness ensues. Some of the show’s elements were derived from works of playwright Anton Chekhov, including several character names, the play’s setting, and the theme of the possible loss of an ancestral home. Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike was nominated for six Tony Awards, winning the 2013 award for Best Play, among various other awards.

SRT is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, committed to producing quality and entertaining theater and earning a reputation as one of the finest small theaters in San Diego. For tickets and more information about upcoming performances please visit www.scrippsranchtheatre.org.
