Scripps Ranch resident Mindy Rodenbaugh has earned her Girl Scout Gold Award for her outstanding leadership and commitment to taking action in her community. The Gold Award is the highest achievement in Girl Scouting; just five percent of Girl Scouts nationwide achieve this distinction. Mindy is one of 32 Girl Scouts in San Diego who earned the award this year.

For her project, Mindy reached out to people in need: children at an orphanage in Mexico, families who had lost their homes to fire, visitors at a soup kitchen, and many others. She led a team of 330 volunteers in crafting 1,600 Christmas ornaments to bring holiday cheer to others.

Mindy has been a member of Troop 8428 since kindergarten and has previously earned the Bronze Award, the highest honor available to Girl Scout Juniors, and the Silver Award, the highest honor available to Cadettes. She graduated from Scripps Ranch High School with the class of 2016. For more information visit www.sdgirlscouts.org.
