There’s a New Captain in Town
The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) has named Acting Captain Charles Lara as the new commanding officer of its Northeastern Division, which serves the neighborhoods of Rancho Peñasquitos, Carmel Mountain, Miramar, Miramar Ranch North, Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Sabre Springs, and Scripps Ranch. Charles will oversee two lieutenants, 13 sergeants, over 90 officers, and three teams of volunteers, ensuring that each of these entities are fulfilling SDPD’s mission to maintain safe and peaceful communities. Charles has made it his personal goal to meet with as many community groups as possible to gather feedback regarding the quality of the division’s services and to continue to work on reducing property crime rates in the area.
Charles began his career in the Northeastern Division 17 years ago. He now lives close to the area with his wife and two children. “I have a stake in making sure the division is safe and attended to by its police,” he said. Learn more at www.sandiego.gov/police.
