Scripps Ranch’s Maia Fram (14) and Liana Steinberg-Casper (17) shared their acting talents as cast members of the JCompany Youth Theatre’s recent production of The Wiz. The play is a retelling of Frank Baum’s 1900 children’s novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the context of the politically, culturally, and socially charged atmosphere of the ‘60s, and featured many musical numbers performed by a diverse and talented cast of local kids. The Wiz mirrors modern day issues with its social commentary, while maintaining the message of transformation that has always been at the root of the original story in a fun and lighthearted way.

JCompany is the youth theater program at the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture, providing young artists with the opportunity to develop their creative potential and express themselves through the dramatic arts. To learn more about future productions visit www.sdcjc.org/jc.
