Scripps Ranch High School student Kathie Fang was one of six recipients of the 2017 North County Society of Fine Arts (NCSFA) scholarships. NCSFA awards scholarships each year to deserving North County high school seniors who intend to pursue degrees in the visual art fields. “Kathie impressed us with her determination to pursue her passion for fine art despite obstacles in life,” the NCSFA Scholarship Committee said. “She is a very talented and creative artist.” Kathie plans on majoring in graphic design and animation in college, with a goal of ultimately becoming an animation artist for Disney, Pixar, or Cartoon Network.

NCSFA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering appreciation and education of fine art in the community. In order to be considered for the scholarship, students must meet the requirements, complete the written application, and be interviewed by the selection committee. A total of $4,000 was divided among the winners this year. Learn more at www.ncsfa.org.
