Pure Joy

faces_damron1Patty Damron is passionate about sharing her love of song with the world. She is a second generation member of the San Diego Chorus who began singing with the group at the tender age of six. “I started performing with my mom, who was a 35-year member. Back then, family members were part of the cast when the San Diego Chorus put on shows. When I was 16, I became a member myself. I find pure joy in sharing with others through songs and their messages,” explained Patty. The San Diego Chorus is a world renowned women’s singing group with accolades that include winning regional, national, and international competitions. Over the course of Patty’s 39 years as a member of the San Diego Chorus, she has held many positions, including her current roles as a front row member, assistant bass section leader, and audio voice listener.

Patty’s longevity at Hickman is something for which she is extremely proud. “I taught sixth grade for one year, first grade for 19 years, and I have been teaching second grade for five years now. I am starting to teach children of former students!” revealed Patty.

Patty’s faith is paramount in her life. She shares her faith as an active member of City Church San Diego, where she sings and co-chairs their newly established choir and has taken care of infants and toddlers at the church for the past decade. “In all the venues of my life, no two days are ever the same,” she shared. “I enjoy striving for the next highlight in my life, and everything is possible because Jesus lives in and through me.”

Spending time with her family is also extremely important to Patty. She has been married to her husband for 28 years, and they have two grown daughters, both of whom live locally. “Breanna is going to Miramar Community College, and Sharoll is graduating from Point Loma Nazarene University in May and will attend San Diego State in the fall to pursue her master’s degree,” said Patty proudly.
