Local Student Wins T-Shirt Design Contest
Dingeman Elementary School third grader Neha Yalamanchili was named the winner of the 3rd Annual Scripps Mesa Fireworks T-Shirt Design Contest in April. Neha’s entry was selected from over 400 entries across 12 participating schools in the Scripps Ranch and Mira Mesa communities. “We were excited to see so many entries, including participation from Scripps Ranch schools,” said Michael Spencer, President of Scripps Mesa Fireworks. “That the first winner from Scripps Ranch is from the school named for Colonel Dingeman, someone so important to the local community, seems exceptionally special.”
Scripps Mesa Fireworks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for and organizing the 4th of July fireworks show over Mira Mesa and Scripps Ranch. The t-shirt design contest began in 2017 and is open to students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The winner’s design is made into t-shirts, which are then given by the organization as a thank you for donations to the fireworks. Learn more at www.miramesafireworks.org.
