Dr. Kami Hoss
Company: The Super Dentists
Owners: Dr. Kami Hoss and Dr. Nazli Keri
Address: Multiple locations throughout San Diego County
The Super Dentists’ Dr. Kami Hoss and Dr. Nazli Keri, also known as their alter-egos Dr. Have One Super Smile and The Tooth Keri, respectively, are transforming the dental experience for children and adults. The Super Dentists provides a unique patient experience through original movies, music, and fun superhero and villain characters. The offices look like theme parks and feature video games, a dress-up area, and even a special door for children. “We’ve taken something that is typically feared and created an environment where kids beg to visit and don’t want to leave,” said Dr. Kami Hoss, Co-Founder of The Super Dentists. “Because we know that if kids like going to the dentist, they will go to the dentist and will take care of their mouths.”
The Super Dentists experience begins before patients even step foot through the door with the practice’s innovative augmented reality app. Parents receive a link to the augmented reality welcome video and watch it with their children so they know what to expect. They are also introduced to The Super Dentists characters: Dr. Have One Super Smile, The Tooth Keri, MeloD, Cavitar, and Molar. “The app is fun and interactive,” said Dr. Kami Hoss. “Kids can take their picture with the characters to become part of the experience, then share photos and videos with their parents and friends via text or social media.”
Though pediatric dentistry is the core service at The Super Dentists, the practice also offers dentistry for parents and orthodontics for the whole family – and it can be fun, too! “We’ve changed everything adults hate about going to the dentist,” Dr. Kami Hoss said.
The Super Dentists are very active in the community, especially with causes related to children and education. They regularly participate in speaking engagements and career fairs at local schools, and host on-site job shadowing opportunities, wellness fairs, and mouth guard fitting clinics. They also provide free dental care on Free Dental Day every year, and pay kids for their leftover Halloween candy that’s then donated to military troops overseas through their Candy Buy Back program.
“We love seeing the reaction of children and parents when they come to see The Super Dentists and interact with all of our services and amenities,” Dr. Kami Hoss said. “We know how important oral health is to your overall health, and we are honored to be making a big difference in peoples’ lives and futures.”

A Healthy Family Starts With a Doctor You Can Trust
Managing your family’s health care is not usually top of mind until a loved one is sick or you’ve had a life change. Choosing the right care can be overwhelming and confusing, but selecting a primary care doctor ahead of time helps ensure the best care for your family when the need arises.
A primary care doctor coordinates your family’s routine and specialty care. Finding the right doctor will depend on your unique needs. If you haven’t given much thought to this important decision, here’s a good place to start:
Decide which type of primary care doctor you want.
There are four types of primary care doctors:
• Pediatricians care for children and adolescents.
• Family medicine doctors treat the whole family, from infants to older adults.
• Internal medicine doctors treat adults age 18 and up.
• Internal medicine/pediatric doctors are board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, and treat people of all ages.
Think about your personal preferences.
• Are you more comfortable with a male or female doctor?
• Do you want your doctor’s office close to your home or work?
• Do you need a doctor who speaks a language other than English?
• Which hospitals does the doctor admit to?
Many North County families that have busy schedules look for a doctor who offers a wide variety of ways to access care. These can include:
• Video and phone appointments.
• The convenience of a medical center where many services, such as pharmacy, lab, radiology, and urgent care, are all under one roof.
• Same-day appointments.
• After-hours pediatric care for when the kids are sick.
• The ability to securely manage your and your family’s health care online by messaging your doctor’s office, making appointments, viewing lab results, and more.
Confirm your insurance coverage.
When you find the ideal doctor, you’ll need to verify if they are in your health plan network. Call the number listed on your insurance card to confirm, and let your insurance carrier know you’ve selected that person as your new primary care doctor.
Sharp Rees-Stealy can help you navigate your options and make it easy to find a doctor. Plus, they accept almost all health insurance plans. Select your doctor at sharp.com/srsdoctor or by calling 858-264-2539.

World-Class Health Care in Your Backyard
Arch Health Medical Group is your neighborhood health care provider with seven medical offices and two urgent care centers located throughout the North County inland region in Poway, Rancho Peñasquitos, Escondido, Ramona, and Valley Center. As your neighbor, Arch cares about your health and wellness as much as you do.
As affiliates of Palomar Health, Arch doctors have access to the Mayo Clinic Care Network, the number one-ranked health system in the world. Palomar Health-affiliated physicians are the only physicians in Southern California with access to Mayo Clinic expertise.
You might already know Arch has a world-class reputation for its orthopedics and cardiology programs. What you might not know is that Arch also has some of the finest primary care providers and specialists in a variety of other fields, including dermatology; ear, nose, and throat; family medicine; gastroenterology; internal medicine; ophthalmology; optometry; pediatrics; pulmonology; rheumatology; sleep medicine; and sports medicine.
Two Arch providers were recognized as Physicians of the Year by Palomar Health for their high-quality patient service delivery. Dr. Sonal Khattri is a practicing pediatric physician who entered the field of pediatrics because she loves the innocence and curiosity of kids and wants to help them develop healthy habits now so they grow up to become responsible adults.
“Listen to their fears. It’s human connection.” ~ Dr. Khattri
She develops trust with her patients by reading, playing, and counting with them to break down barriers and make her seem less threatening. And when parents come to her with questions, she listens. “You have to be patient and a good listener,” Dr. Khattri said. “Listen to their fears. It’s human connection.” Once parents and kids feel she has their best interests at heart, they can build a strong doctor-patient partnership and create mutually agreeable patient outcomes.
Also recognized as a Palomar Health Physician of the Year, Dr. Young Lee is a practicing general and interventional cardiologist in Poway and Escondido. His care ranges from treating clogged arteries to rhythm disorders, coronary artery disease, and heart failure. Dr. Lee prioritizes informed and shared decision-making with his patients to make them aware of their own medical issues by explaining complex information in ways they will understand. “You have to customize treatment to not only the medical issue but to the patient’s own beliefs,” Dr. Lee said.

Dr. Christopher Maulik
Since Dr. Christopher Maulik took over Scripps Poway Orthodontics in 2007, he has worked hard to earn a trustworthy reputation in the community for delivering top-quality care and exceptional results. Dr. Maulik is known for refusing to take shortcuts and managing tough cases well. He also isn’t afraid to tell patients if orthodontia isn’t needed, but if it is, he and his office staff are committed to making it a positive experience for everyone. “We treat our patients well and we thrive primarily from word of mouth in the great community of Scripps Ranch,” he said. “Ask your neighbors – chances are, one of them has come to us.”
As someone who had braces as a teen, Dr. Maulik comes from a place of understanding and experience. He saw what a positive impact orthodontic treatment could have on patients and decided to pursue a career in the field. After graduating from one of the top dental schools in the country, the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a national dental honor society for the top 5% in the class, and went on to complete an orthodontic residency at UCONN.
These days, Dr. Maulik is focusing his efforts on his patients and the community at large. His practice has supported every school and several sports teams within the community. He also understands that his patients have busy schedules – he offers late night appointments during the week and is open one Saturday a month and on most school holidays so that children miss as little school as possible.
When he’s not working hard to serve the community, Dr. Maulik can be found surfing or spending time with his wife and four children. His oldest daughter is nine, he has six-year-old boy and girl twins, and a two-year-old daughter.
Dr. Jodi McGrady
Dr. Jodi McGrady opened McGrady Dental Group with one goal: taking care of families. “I love working with kids and helping to introduce them to dentistry without fear,” Dr. McGrady explained. “By offering services for the entire family, kids don’t have to age out of our practice, and busy moms can get their teeth cleaned at the same time as the kids.”
She has always had an interest in comprehensive, community-minded dentistry. After receiving her first dental degree at University of Pittsburgh, she studied hospital dentistry and trained to treat children with special needs at University of Iowa, receiving a master’s degree in dental public health. She and her husband, periodontist Dr. Michael Spilotro, practiced together in Santa Fe, NM for 10 years before relocating to San Diego.
Dr. McGrady continued studying pediatric dentistry at University of California Los Angeles and Rady Children’s Hospital, completing her pediatric residency in 2011. She remains involved with the hospital. “I’m currently the Chief of Dental Services at Rady Children’s Hospital,” she explained. “This gives us one more option for kids with health concerns or extensive treatment needs to be treated in a safe environment.”
Providing safe, high-quality treatment and serving the community is a family affair at McGrady Dental Group. Dr. McGrady lives locally with her husband and three teenagers. Her husband works in the office two days a month, and two of her children join Dr. McGrady on trips to Ensenada, Mexico, volunteering with 1000 Smiles.
“I enjoy the relationships you build in pediatrics and family dentistry,” Dr. McGrady concluded. “You truly watch kids grow up and get to share in their joys and successes.”

Dr. Lin loves to snowboard and enjoys traveling with his wife Christy and their two children to hit the slopes. Dr. Lin actively supports the arts and has given generously to local dance groups and high school performance teams, in addition to the Oral Cancer Society and ALZ San Diego.
“Giving back to our local community is something Christy and I are passionate about, especially the arts and youth sports.” – Dr. Albert Lin
Dr. Gramins is an avid golfer, skier, and vintage car enthusiast. He lives in 4S Ranch with his wife Jennifer and their son. Dr. G, as he’s known to many of his patients, is an active supporter of March of Dimes, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Las Patronas, ALZ San Diego, and numerous local high school and community sports teams.
