The 77th Assembly District’s 2019 Nonprofit of the Year is the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. The organization serves an average of 350,000 people per month, distributing food directly to San Diegans in need at more than 200 sites every month as well as providing food for more than 500 other nonprofit feeding programs, such as soup kitchens and churches. “The San Diego Food Bank has served an important role in our community through the years,” said Assemblymember Brian Maienschein, who presented the award. “I truly appreciate their work providing food and other resources to those who are in need in the San Diego region.”

Around 24,000 people volunteer at the nonprofit warehouse every year and provided 28 million pounds of food in 2018. “It takes a community to feed a community, and this award honors the wonderful people who make our mission possible,” said James A. Floros, San Diego Food Bank President and CEO. Learn more at www.sandiegofoodbank.org.
