The Scripps Ranch Fire Safe Council (SRFSC) recently hosted its 13th Annual Play to Protect Golf Tournament at The Vineyard Golf Course in Escondido. Attendees enjoyed a day of golf, lunch, an auction, raffle, and awards hosted by Dave Mason from Sunny 98.1. Twenty-two golfers participated in the tournament, including four golfers from CAL FIRE. First place winners were Deputy Fire Chief John Woods, Fire Captain Jeff Larson, and Stu Gross. Second place winners were David Massey, Mark Smoley, and Dan Smiley. Third place winners were Jeremy Sanders, Derek Morse, and Dave Parker.

The tournament raised over $1,200 to help SRFSC achieve its goals of updating community evacuation plans, cleaning up some areas of Scripps Ranch that are at risk of fire, and outfitting strategic areas in the community with equipment for first responders in case of an evacuation emergency.
