Cadets from Scripps Ranch High School’s Air Force JROTC program set a record in the 2019 county-wide donation drive for the San Diego Food Bank by collecting 29,848 pounds of canned food, rice, and other non-perishable items. AFJROTC cadets organize and lead SRHS’s food drive each year around the holidays, this year collecting the most donations by the school to date and shattering the 2018 San Diego County record of 22,279 pounds. School staff and students joined forces to gather donations with a friendly competition between class periods with a pizza party for the winning class.

The San Diego Food Bank was able to distribute 24,873 meals from the nearly 15 tons of donated food to people in need. The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and North County Food Bank feed 350,000 people each month in partnership with 500 nonprofit community partners. Learn more at www.sandiegofoodbank.org.
